Job summary

Utah Lions Eye Bank in Idaho Falls is seeking an Eye Bank Technician (Idaho Ocular Tissue Recovery Specialist) to excise ocular tissue from deceased donors for transplantation. Travel to recovery sites and perform donor assessments and the excision procedure.

The role requires an associate degree in biology or chemistry, immunization per CDC/hospital policy, and the ability to work 3 on-call shifts per week with day shifts. Part-time, non-benefited staff status.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in biology/chemistry or related field required.
• Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.
• Certification as Eye Bank Technician/Ophthalmic Technician or Tissue Bank Specialist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive to recovery locations and perform ocular tissue excision.
• Assess potential donor and document signs of communicable diseases.
• Package, label, and coordinate delivery of procured tissue to facility.
• Assist in training new Remote Tissue Recovery Specialists.
• Maintain SOP knowledge for Utah Lions Eye Bank recovery department.
