Job summary

The Circuit Court of Cook County, Office of the Chief Judge, is seeking an Applications Developer (Programmer II-CJ) for the Information Services Department in Chicago. You will participate in system requirements analysis, collaborate with in-house developers and vendors, and design and develop need-based software using .NET languages.

This exempt, full-time role requires a bachelor's degree in CS or related field and at least 3 years of C#/.NET experience.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • 3 years of development experience using C# .NET.
  • Proven experience as a .NET Application Developer.
  • Strong knowledge of VB.NET, C#, JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with REST/RPC APIs and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a team and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Refactor and debug existing code; test and deploy applications.

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Application Developer, Information Services Department

POSITION TITLE: Programmer II-CJ

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

LOCATION: 50 W. Washington St., Chicago, Illinois 60602

PAY GRADE: Grade 20

SALARY: $81,603

Responsibilities
  • Participate in system requirements analysis
  • Work collaboratively with a team of in-house application developers as well as 3rd party vendors and partner agencies to meet the meet the business objectives of the court
  • Collaboratewith end-users to design effective programs
  • Serve as an internal expert on applications and provide technical support
  • Designand develops need-based software programs
  • Producecode using .NET languages (C#, VB .NET)
  • Write clean, scalable code using .NET programming languages
  • Revise, update, refactor and debug code
  • Develop technical interfaces, specifications, and architecture
  • Develop client displays and user interfaces
  • Convert existing applications to web applications
  • Improve existing software
  • Upgrade, configure and debugexisting systems
  • Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Maintain and upgrade existing applications
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
  • Test and deploy applications and systems
  • Perform document testing, error resolution, and overall software development process
  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security of applications
  • Create and test software prototypes
  • Preparedetailed training guides to end-users
  • Provide hands-on application training to end-users
  • Provide technical support for web, desktop or mobile applications
  • Provide technical support for critical production systems
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
  • Remain up to date with the terminology, concepts and best practices for coding desktop and mobile applications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or any related field
  • 3 years of development experience using C# .NET
  • Proven experience as a .NET Application Developer
  • Strong Knowledge of programming languages such as VB.NET, C#, JavaScript
  • Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC)
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Excellent critical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective at time management
  • Good collaborative skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work well in a team setting

  • LANSA – Visual LANSA
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists (MCTS) certification a plus
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification a plus
  • Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) certification a plus
  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SRSS) experience a plus
  • Microsoft Windows Server, Including Active Directory experience a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • On a continuous basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen;
  • Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding desk;
  • Perform simple grasping and fine manipulation;
  • Strength to lift equipment weighing up to 45 pounds;
  • Use telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis
