Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Director/Managing Director to lead Office of the CFO advisory and performance improvement initiatives for private equity‑backed companies across major US hubs, including Houston. You will drive client engagements, forecast and liquidity improvements, and C‑suite partnerships, delivering measurable value and growth.

This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring deep finance, FP&A and change management experience, with a track record of originating new PE relationships

Qualifications

• Experience leading CFO advisory engagements for PE-backed businesses.
• Strong finance operations, forecasting, FP&A and KPI development.
• Proven ability to win new business and manage multiple engagements.
• Excellent communication with boards and executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead Office of the CFO and performance improvement engagements for private equity‑backed businesses.
• Serve as the senior advisor to CFOs, CEOs, sponsors, and boards on complex financial and operational initiatives.
• Partner with portfolio company leadership teams to improve forecasting, reporting, liquidity management, working capital performance, and decision‑making processes.
• Evaluate financial performance, identify operational improvement opportunities, and implement actionable solutions.
• Lead engagement teams through assessment, planning, execution, and results delivery.
• Build and deepen relationships with private equity firms, investment professionals, lenders, and corporate executives.
• Identify and originate new business opportunities while contributing to the firm's continued growth.
• Mentor and develop junior team members while fostering a high‑performance culture.

What You'll Do

• Significant experience in Office of the CFO consulting, performance improvement, turnaround advisory, or related financial consulting environments.
• Demonstrated success leading complex engagements for private equity‑backed companies.
• Strong understanding of finance operations, forecasting, FP&A, cash flow management, KPI development, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Experience working closely with sponsors, executive leadership teams, and boards of directors.
• Proven business development capabilities and an existing network within the private equity ecosystem.
• Ability to independently manage multiple engagements while serving as the trusted advisor to clients.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
