This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: The incumbent must possess specialized technical experience supporting the Maritime Surveillance Systems (MSS) program within a compartmentalized environment, applying expertise in oceanographic data science, environmental acoustics, and underway collection platforms. This includes analyzing complex survey data (e.g., ISS-60, bathymetry, and ambient noise), developing custom data processing solutions, and architecting relational databases that preserve data integrity for advanced scientific exploitation.
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5/10 grade level or NP-02 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing and utilizing scientific data repositories and information management platforms (such as SharePoint); 2) Processing and analyzing diverse oceanographic and geophysical survey data (such as bathymetry, sidescan, and AUV imagery); 3) Providing technical guidance, coordinating collection operations, and making strategic data decisions within a collaborative team; and 4) Communicating complex technical information effectively, both orally and in writing.
