Job summary

Lynker Corporation is seeking a GIS Specialist to support NOAA's Office of Coast Survey National Bathymetric Source team. The role involves processing hydrographic data in GIS, producing deconflicted bathymetric products, and iterating bathymetric models as new data and workflows become available.

The candidate will help standardize documentation and develop workflows for hydrography, physics, and geodesy within the NBS program. A strong GIS background and programming skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in hydrography, ocean mapping, physical science, marine science, oceanography, physics, or related discipline
  • 4 years of work experience in lieu of degree is acceptable
  • 3–5 years of experience in GIS/data management and hydrographic data analysis
  • Experience with Python and GIS software (QGIS/ArcGIS/CARIS) preferred
  • Ability to analyze, acquire, integrate, and disseminate ocean and coastal geospatial data and products

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing, reviewing, and qualifying hydrographic and topographic survey data in a GIS environment
  • Assist with producing and quality assuring deconflicted bathymetric products
  • Assist with maintaining the bathymetric model as new sources become available and workflows evolve
  • Assist with standardizing and improving documentation for the NBS program
  • Assist with creating and optimizing workflows for hydrography, physics, and geodesy within the NBS program
