Job summary

NRDC is seeking an Attorney to join the Oceans Division in a U.S.-based office on a limited-term 2.5-year position. The attorney will support ocean conservation litigation and regulatory advocacy, working with a team of expert advocates and litigators.

The role involves developing policy reform agendas, collaborating across NRDC and partner organizations, and contributing to congressional and agency advocacy. This is a hybrid work arrangement with travel ~10% annually.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Bar in the jurisdiction where they intend to practice.
• 4+ years of legal advocacy experience, including direct litigation experience.
• Knowledge of administrative law and federal court practice.
• Excellent writing, research, and public speaking skills.
• Ability to travel to NRDC U.S.-based offices, approximately 10% annually.

Responsibilities

• Represent NRDC on litigation matters in collaboration with attorneys and experts.
• Conduct legal research, analysis and briefing.
• Engage in regulatory proceedings relating to ocean conservation.
• Develop an ocean conservation policy reform agenda and strategy.
• Collaborate with Oceans Division staff on advocacy initiatives.
