Job summary

NRDC seeks an Attorney to join the Oceans Division in a limited term 2.5-year position. The attorney will support federal ocean litigation, regulatory advocacy, and policy reform efforts across NRDC’s U.S. offices. A JD and bar admission, plus 4+ years of legal advocacy experience, are required.

The role involves collaboration with a team of experienced litigators, potential travel, and engagement with Congress and agencies. NRDC emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Bar in the jurisdiction of practice.
• 4+ years of legal advocacy experience, including direct litigation.

Responsibilities

• Represent NRDC on litigation matters in collaboration with attorneys and experts.
• Conduct legal research, analysis and briefing.
• Engage in regulatory proceedings relating to ocean conservation.
• Help develop an ocean conservation policy reform agenda and strategy for its implementation.
• Collaborate with Oceans Division staff on advocacy initiatives.
• Work in coalitions and partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with attorneys at other organizations on common litigation matters.
• Support NRDC’s advocacy in Congress and with administrative agencies.
