Qualifications

Master of Science (M.S.) degree or equivalent professional work experience in oceanography, marine science, chemistry, engineering, physics, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and interfacing oceanographic or automated chemical analytical equipment.
Meticulous attention to detail and strict commitment to following established analytical best practices and quality assurance protocols.
Desirable software: Microsoft Excel; experience with MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, NetCDF, or Ocean DataView.
Basic working knowledge of mechanics, computer interfacing, and electronics.
Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Ability and willingness to participate in extended research cruises and fieldwork.

Responsibilities

Overseeing lab activities for the ocean biogeochemistry group.
Operate state-of-the-art instrumentation to measure carbonate parameters in lab and during cruises.
Install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain chemical and oceanographic instrumentation in lab and field.
Data processing, quality control documentation, and timely submission of datasets and metadata to data repositories.
