Job summary

Amer Sports seeks a senior Global Transportation professional to lead day-to-day operations of ocean and air freight. You will manage carrier networks, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement with internal partners across Distribution Centers, Customs, Finance, and regional teams.

Excellent stakeholder management and a data-driven mindset are essential as you optimize inbound processes, support tenders, and leverage market intelligence.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in global transportation, freight forwarding, or logistics, with focus on ocean freight.
  • Hands-on experience managing carriers and 3PL providers in an international environment.
  • Strong understanding of global shipping and cross-border logistics.

Job description

Join our Global Transportation team and play a key role in ensuring our inbound ocean and air freight operations run smoothly, reliably, and efficiently across the globe. You'll be at the heart of our carrier network, driving operational excellence and helping deliver world-class transportation performance.

What you will be doing
  • Take ownership of the day-to-day operational management of our global ocean carriers and air & ocean freight forwarders.
  • Monitor carrier performance, capacity, allocations, and service levels to ensure reliable inbound transportation.
  • Act as the primary contact for operational escalations and resolve transportation issues in close collaboration with carriers and internal stakeholders.
  • Track and analyze key transportation KPIs, identify improvement opportunities, and provide regular performance reporting.
  • Manage FCL, LCL, and air freight allocations together with our Operational Excellence team to ensure capacity meets business demand.
  • Support transportation tenders, contract negotiations, and carrier procurement activities by providing operational insights and market intelligence.
  • Collaborate closely with Distribution Centers, Customs, Finance, and regional transportation teams to optimize inbound processes and standardize ways of working.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging data, transportation technologies, and market trends to enhance efficiency and service quality.
What you need to succeed
  • University degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in global transportation, freight forwarding, or logistics, with a strong focus on ocean freight.
  • Hands‑on experience managing carriers and 3PL providers in an international environment.
  • Strong understanding of global shipping, transportation operations, and cross‑border logistics.
  • Experience monitoring transportation KPIs and translating data into operational improvements.
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills.
  • Well organized, proactive, and able to prioritize in a fast‑paced, international environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 30%).
  • Experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS) and transportation reporting tools is an advantage.
