Job summary

St. Edward's University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy to join the developing Department of Occupational Therapy.

The role encompasses teaching in applied anatomy, physical disfunction (Adult/Gero/Neuro), and mental health, with responsibilities spanning curriculum development, student advising, recruitment assistance, and service to the department and community.

Qualifications

• Must hold a doctoral degree awarded by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body.
• Must be licensed as an occupational therapist in Texas.
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college/university level.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
• Must possess an unencumbered driver's license and the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and delivers course instruction as assigned.
• Maintains an environment conducive to learning and facilitates student participation.
• Assesses student performance, monitors student progress, and provides timely feedback.
• Advises OT students with academic, professional, and/or personal issues.
• Establishes a scholarship plan and participates in scholarly work commensurate with university standards.
• Serves on programmatic and university committees as assigned.
• Serves as university liaison in community and/or professional activities.
• Supports students in community service initiatives on a rotating basis.
• Advances the vision of the profession and deliver new ideas with a forward-looking perspective of clinical education.
• Responsible for regulatory and policy compliance as it applies to the position.
• Develops community relationships as appropriate to course content and manages and maintains relationships with existing sites when teaching responsibilities include fieldwork experiences.
• Communicates with appropriate stakeholders to maintain current with policies and practices of the educational program.
• Supports and enhances the policies and procedures for active learning experiences for the students in the community.
• Other duties as assigned.
