Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant to support patients recovering from illnesses and injuries. You will implement treatment plans, teach exercises, and help improve mobility under supervision.

You will document progress, communicate with the health team, supervise aides and students when needed, and ensure regulatory compliance. Active state licensure is required to practice in California.

Qualifications

• Active State Licensure in Occupational Therapy.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptoms.
• Review medical history and referrals from doctors or surgeons.
• Diagnose movement dysfunction by observing patients as they move.
• Develop individualized treatment plans.
• Coach patients and teach therapeutic massage to ease pain and promote healing.
• Maintain patient records and track goals.
• Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practice.
• Assess progress and adjust treatments in clinical records.
• Provide counseling to patients and families about physical disorders.
• Communicate progress and plans with supervisor and health team members.
• Prepare discharge summaries per regulatory requirements.
• Document all relevant information in electronic records and maintain patient files.
• Participate in trainings, in-services and conferences.
• Supervise rehabilitation aides and/or students as needed.
• Adhere to company policies and code of conduct.
