Description

Summary of Essential Functions for the Position:

Committed to Caring, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) administers occupational therapy to patients in their homes, following physician orders and the plan of care, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT) and the Director of Rehabilitation Services. The OT evaluates the COTA's performance, treatment provision, patient education, communication, and data collection regarding patient health needs.

Qualifications

• Meet certification requirements as an Occupational Therapy Assistant per the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA); certification maintained by AOTA.
• Currently certified in practicing states.
• CPR certified through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Two (2) years of experience, preferably in Home Health.
• Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Good customer relations skills and a commitment to quality service.
• Support the core values and goals of the agency.
• Valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation.
• 100% travel may be required.

Educational Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work indoors in the agency office and patient homes, with travel involved. Requires physical effort including kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, walking, and assisting in lifting/transferring patients up to 100 pounds. Must have senses or adaptive devices to meet position needs. Must provide evidence of annual TB testing and other required exams. Exposure to odors, blood, body fluids, adverse environmental conditions, and hazardous materials is possible.
