North Star Behavioral Health, Alaska's premier mental health facility, invites a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. Work within acute inpatient and residential programs for children, adolescents, and adults in our Arctic Recovery detox pathway.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant (licensed required).
• 0–3 years experience in Occupational Therapy in a Mental Health Setting or equivalent clinical role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Occupational Therapist to develop, implement, and monitor patient-centered treatment plans and goals.
• Plans and conducts individual and group interventions to improve functioning and quality of life, including assessments and progress documentation.
• Assists patients in developing coping, social, life, and independent living skills under supervision.
• Helps patients develop psychosocial functioning and life skills to promote healthy habits and routines.
• Contributes to the assessment and evaluation process as directed by the Occupational Therapist using observation and data collection.
• Promotes mental health and wellbeing through meaningful activities and collaboration with the care team.
• Educates and mentors therapy students, peers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Follows medical practices, safety, and infection control policies; documents treatment outcomes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
