Job summary

Riverbank Post Acute is a 99-bed Medicare and Medi-Cal certified skilled nursing facility and is part of American Specialty Management group based in Modesto, California.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will help Occupational Therapists provide therapeutic assessments and intervention, plan, implement, and administer educational, vocational, and recreational programs to restore and enhance performance in individuals with functional impairments.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AOTA-accredited OT program.
• Current Certification as a COTA.
• Skilled Nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects therapy activities aligned with patient needs and records progress in charts.
• Collaborates with other health care professionals involved in patient care.
• Instructs patients and families in home programs and daily living skills.
• Evaluates daily living skills of clients with impairments and documents findings.
• Maintains and cleans equipment and adapts treatment plans as needed.
• Demonstrates therapy techniques and helps patients manage emotions.
• Transports patients to/from the therapy area.
• Performs scheduling, data collection, and billing documentation.
• Orders educational and treatment supplies.

The Occupational Therapy Assistantwill help Occupational Therapists provide therapeutic assessments and intervention, plan, implement, and administer educational, vocational, and recreational programs to restore and enhance performance in individuals with functional impairments.

Responsibilities:

• Selects therapy activities to fit patients’ needs and capabilities. Observes and records patients’ progress, attitudes, and behavior, and maintains this information in client records.
• Communicates and collaborates with other health care professionals involved with the care of a patient.
• Instructs patients and families in home programs, basic living skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment.
• Evaluates daily living skills and capacities of physically, developmentally or emotionally disabled clients like dressing and grooming.
• Assembles, cleans, and maintains equipment and materials for patient use.
• Alters treatment programs to obtain better results if treatment is not having the intended effect.
• Demonstrates therapy techniques such as manual and creative arts or games.
• Teaches patients how to deal constructively with their emotions.
• Transports patients to and from the occupational therapy work area.
• Performs clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, collecting data, and documenting health insurance billings.
• Orders educational and treatment supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of program accredited by American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)

EXPERIENCE:

With Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Experience is Preferred

With Skilled Nursing Experience is Preferred

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Certification to practice Occupational Therapy Assistant Role
