Job summary

Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing in Virginia Beach is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our resident-centered team. You will work onsite to help residents improve motion, mobility and quality of life.

The role emphasizes evidence-based care, collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and a compassionate approach. New graduates are welcome to apply and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Active state COTA license or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Identify and meet patients' goals and needs.
• Offer cost-effective treatments to improve motion and mobility.
• Reduce the need for medications and provide alternatives to surgery.
• Develop care plans using various treatment techniques.
• Provide quality, personalized and evidence-based care.
• Motivate patients to maximize function during treatment.
• Promote healthy lifestyle by improving strength, balance, coordination.
• Document patient care services; collaborate with other health professionals.
• Evaluate effects and monitor progress and communicate results.

Responsibilities

• Identify and meet patients’ goals and needs
• Offer cost-effective treatments that help improve clients’ motion and mobility
• Reduce the need for medications and provide alternatives to surgery
• Develop care plans using a variety of treatment techniques
• Provide quality, personalized and evidence-based care and proven interventions
• Motivate patients during treatment in order to help them function optimally
• Promote clients’ healthy lifestyle by improving strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination
• Consult and practice with other health professionals
• Evaluate effects and monitor and communicate progress
• Document patient care services

Requirements / Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Active state COTA license (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience in skilled nursing facility (SNF) or geriatric setting preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
