Job summary

Apple Rehab Farmington Valley in Plainville, CT is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. You will work under the Rehabilitation Director and OT to deliver quality care that helps residents achieve maximum functional independence.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an AOTA-accredited OTA program, eligible for licensure in Connecticut, and committed to continuing education. Prior long-term care experience is preferred, and you will participate in interdisciplinary

• Prior Long-term Care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality resident care to enable maximum functional ability and positive interactions.
• Assists the OT in providing occupational therapy treatments per Plan of Care as directed by the OT.
• Manages caseload with supervision by scheduling treatments individually or in groups.
• Instructs resident, family, and caregivers in OT procedures to be continued upon discharge.
• Adheres to PPS guidelines and ensures documentation conforms to billing policies.

Job Description / Qualifications

Reports to Rehabilitation Director and Occupational Therapist

General Purpose

Provides quality resident care to enable the resident to achieve and maintain the maximum level of functional ability while maintaining positive level of interaction with facility and resident.

Qualifications

Graduate of AOTA accredited OTA school and eligible for licensure in their state of practice.

Prior Long‑term Care Experience Preferred

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Complies with ethical, regulatory, procedural and professional standards and practice guidelines as defined by state of licensure.
• Assists the OT in providing occupational therapy treatments to residents as determined by the Plan of Care as directed by the OT
• Manages caseload with supervisor by scheduling treatment individually or in groups while maintaining efficiency expectations.
• Instructs resident, family, and caregivers in OT procedures to be continued upon discharge.
• Adheres to PPS guidelines, ensures all OT documentation/treatment conforms to documentation/billing policies and procedures.
• Working with OT, provides oversight and direction techs and assists in the supervision and education of affiliating students.
• Assists in the assurance that the physical surroundings and equipment are sanitary, orderly and free from conditions that may cause safety hazards.

Residents’ Rights Functions

• Occupational Therapist Assistant maintains resident confidentiality and privacy. Fosters feelings of self-worth and respect by treating residents with kindness and understanding.
• Knows and complies with Residents’ Bill of Rights. Reports all grievances and resident complaints to administrator and/or Director of Nursing immediately.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift/move fifty (50) pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Fine motor skills
• Visual acuity

Other Job Functions

• Maintains own professional competence as well as learning new creative trends in OT treatment through participation in continuing education, seminars and training programs.
• Attends all mandatory in-services.
