GOODLAND REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER in Goodland, KS seeks an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Rehabilitation Services team on a PRN basis. You will provide OT services under the supervision of a licensed OT, implement care plans, and assist patients in regaining independence and function.

The role requires strong communication, basic computer skills, and knowledge of OT principles, with opportunities to participate in patient education and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited OTA program and Kansas licensure.
  • Knowledge of OT principles, activities, anatomy and patient care techniques.
  • Ability to document accurately and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provides OT treatment per plan of care and within OTA scope.
  • Observes and reports changes in patient condition to the supervising OT.
  • Communicates with therapists, physicians, staff, patients, and families.
  • Coordinates patient care to meet needs and hospital policies.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and ability to work under stress.
  • Maintains good working relationships within and across departments.
  • Collaborates with the supervising OT to support patient care.
  • Adheres to documentation standards and hospital policies.
  • Participates in staff education and performance improvement activities.
  • Participates in infection control and safety programs.
  • Represents the organization in a positive, professional manner.

Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant

Summary: Responsible for providing occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implements established plans of care, administers therapeutic activities and interventions, observes and reports patient response to treatment, and assists patients in improving or maintaining functional abilities and independence within the limits of their capabilities.

Essential Functions:
  1. 1. Provides occupational therapy treatment in accordance with the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist and within the scope of practice of an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  2. 2. Observes and documents patient response to treatment and reports changes in condition or treatment effectiveness to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  3. 3. Communicates appropriately and clearly with the supervising Occupational Therapist, physicians, staff, administrative team, patients, families, and customers.
  4. 4. Provides and coordinates assigned patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
  5. 5. Maintains accurate and timely patient records and documentation related to occupational therapy services.
  6. 6. Ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
  7. 7. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  8. 8. Collaborates with the supervising Occupational Therapist and other departments, as appropriate, to support patient care and performance improvement activities.
  9. 9. Meets current documentation standards, departmental procedures, and hospital policies.
  10. 10. Participates in staff education, performance improvement activities, in-services, and other educational programs as assigned.
  11. 11. Participates in infection control, departmental equipment training, and organizational safety programs.
  12. 12. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  1. 1. Must have strong written and verbal skills.
  2. 2. Moderate computer knowledge.
  3. 3. Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, therapeutic activities, anatomy, physiology, and patient care techniques.
  4. 4. Knowledge of occupational therapy equipment operation, safe use, basic maintenance, and infection-control practices.
  5. 5. Physically able to meet following physical demands for lifting, vision, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  6. 6. Awareness of budget restraints, and assistance with conserving costs.
Position Qualifications:

Certifications/Licensures: Current Kansas licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant; current BLS certification as required by GRMC.

Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Minimum Experience: Previous Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred.
