Occupational Therapist Assistant

Qualifications

• Active and current licensed practitioner in the State of Texas, issued according to the guidelines of the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
• Graduated from an accredited occupational therapy education program by ACOTE of the AOTA or its successors.
• Eligible to take or has completed the NBCOT certification exam for occupational therapists.

Job Description

This role requires critical thinking, assessment interpretation, documentation, and effective communication. Physical demands include lifting, stretching, bending, pulling, pushing, twisting, and standing for up to 8 hours. Responsibilities include:

• Implementing the Plan of Care established by the Occupational Therapist.
• Recording patient progress and modifying treatment plans as needed.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint or similar software.
• Instructing patients with various disabilities and demonstrating exercises.
• Educating families, maintaining treatment orders, and recommending equipment and social services.
• Assessing and documenting patient activities, progress, and safety conditions.
• Participating in staff meetings and ensuring patient safety during transitions.

Requirements include a clean criminal background and maintaining continuing education hours as per Texas licensing standards.
