Job summary

The Occupational Therapist is part of the Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough Student Support Services, providing direct, one-on-one and small-group occupational therapy to students to meet IEP goals and facilitate participation in school activities.

Responsibilities include collaboration with the IEP team, caseload management, in-class and pull-out therapy, scheduling, and meticulous record-keeping in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA. Experience in education is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in OT or equivalent preferred.
• Initial or Professional Licensure from DESE (Massachusetts OT license).
• 1–3 years of experience in educational settings is desirable.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE):

The Occupational Therapist works to provide direct, one-on-one and small group support to students who require intensive,

ongoing occupational therapy in order to effectively meet IEP goals, and successfully participate in activities throughout the school day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree preferred in an accredited OT training program
• Initial or Professional Licensure from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
• MA OT license

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1-3 years of experience working with individuals with various disabilities in an educational setting

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO):

The OT is expected to:

• Effectively collaborate with all members of the IEP Team in the progress monitoring/data collection and effective caseload management.
• Oversee and provide a simultaneous caseload of children receiving occupational therapy services.
• Perform in-class treatment, pull-out treatment, consultation to educational staff, evaluation, planning, activity analysis, data collect/analysis, and creation of progress reports.
• Develop, update, and adhere to both a daily and weekly schedule
• Oversee the work of COTA’s as needed
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with HIPPA and FERPA regulations
• Document sessions and activities for School-Based Medicaid Claiming as appropriate
• Consistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the students
• Responsible for implementing “other job-related duties” as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work Environment:

Majority of work is performed in a school/classroom environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Vision and hearing correctable to within normal ranges.

Program Dates/Times

• Programs are 5 weeks or 7 weeks depending upon classroom assignment.
• 5 week program dates are: Weeks of: July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28, & Aug 4
• 7 week program dates are: Weeks of June 30, July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28, Aug 4, & Aug 11
• Positions available for programs that are 3 days (Tues-Thurs), or 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs) 9am-2pm.
• Program dates, hours, and rate will be stipulated in contract.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: upto $42 Per Hour
