Job summary

Young Adult Institute (YAI) in New York, NY seeks a temporary Occupational Therapist to cover a leave of absence for 2–3 months. The role provides OT services for pediatric and adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

You will evaluate, plan and provide therapy, document in electronic health records, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to improve quality of life. Schedule varies by day, with typical weekday and Saturday hours.

Qualifications

• Licensed OT in New York state and NBCOT-certified.
• Experience in pediatric/adult IDD populations preferred.
• Ability to work with limited on-site supervision.

Job description

*This is a temporary position to cover a team member on leave for an expected 2 - 3 month period.

Evaluate, planning, and provision of Occupational Therapy Services for pediatric/adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Instruct/provide training on home therapeutic programs and/or assistive devices to eliminate or reduce areas of deficit
• Contemporaneous documentation using electronic health records
• Meet productivity expectation
• Participate in scheduled supervision, patient communication, coordination of care with interdisciplinary team to help improve the quality of life of the people we support

Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g., lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)

• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of New York and has graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program approved by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Preferred Qualification Requirements ( desired requirements beyond MQRs above)

• A minimum of one year Occupational Therapy experience in a healthcare setting working with individuals with intellectual and developmental delays.
• Ability to work effectively with limited on-site supervision

Compensation

$68,139 per year

Schedule

• Tuesdays: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM
• Wednesdays: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
• Thursdays: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
• Fridays: 8:30 - AM - 5:00 PM
• Saturdays: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
