Job summary

Ventura Services Florida seeks a licensed Occupational Therapist to join our Florida-based facility. The role requires a valid, unrestricted state license, a current driver’s license, and knowledge of long-term care regulations to support residents.

You will plan, implement and supervise occupational therapy services, ensure compliance, documentation, and collaboration with the rehabilitation team; a $10,000 signing bonus is offered for full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid, unrestricted license in the therapy discipline in the state.
• Meet educational requirements of licensure.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of employment.
• Knowledgeable of skilled nursing home regulations, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the delivery of occupational therapy services as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current state and federal laws and regulations; and respective practice act(s) in the state.
• Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the execution of occupational therapy services in accordance with physician’s orders and AOTA guidelines.
• Coordinates achievement and reporting of the facility’s key performance indicators in occupational therapy and establishes an ongoing monitoring system.
• Evaluates and reports KPI outcomes of the department to the rehabilitation director to determine actions such as re-education or revisions.
• Develops and implements processes to lead, guide and direct the delivery of occupational therapy services including screening, evaluation, treatment, discharge and documentation for residents.
• Complies with facility policies for documenting, billing and coding for residents receiving occupational therapy.
• Provides resident information needed for assessments according to facility policy (functional abilities, goals, etc.).
• Participates as a qualified clinician for interdisciplinary determination of resident performance for Medicare parts A and MA residents on admission, interim and discharge.
• Ensures therapy equipment is stored, used, sanitized, disinfected and cleaned safely.
• Participates in regular team meetings to discuss residents’ therapy progression and discharge planning.
• Adheres to state practice guidelines as defined by the Florida Occupational Therapy Practice Act and professional associations.
• Knows how to access the practice act and standards; maintains professional relationships with residents, staff and families.
• Evaluates OT assistants and maintains accountability with standards of practice.
• Facilitates and participates in facility committees as necessary.
• Understands scope of work and supervision requirements as defined by the OT practice act in each state.
• Ensures compassionate, quality care across the OT spectrum with adequate staff and proper facility hygiene.
• Identifies opportunities for enhanced services with interdisciplinary team members and community agencies.
• Names staff across departments to meet resident needs and related requirements.
• Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, positivity and daily problem solving.
• Makes reports and recommendations to the rehabilitation director on OT.
• Follows policies for readiness for health inspections and OSHA surveys.
• Keeps informed on regulatory, scope of work and supervision changes affecting OT outcomes.
• Promotes safe work practices and accident prevention.
