Job summary

Developmental Preschool & Day Care Center in Wyoming is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to provide therapy, evaluations and planning for children up to age 5. The role covers a two-county region, with in-person preferred but teletherapy is possible for the right candidate.

The position offers 15–20 hours per week, with additional hours possible as the school year progresses. This is a contractor position with no benefits if fully remote.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in occupational therapy with AOTA registration.
• Licensure by State of Wyoming is required.
• Pediatric interest required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct screenings of motor development to identify need for further evaluation.
• Conduct formal and informal evaluations including standardized tests and clinical observation with multidisciplinary report.
• Participate in development/review of IEP/IFSP with goals and objectives.
• Provide individual and small group therapy per IEP/IFSP.
• Offer OT services in inclusive preschool classrooms and other settings.
• Consult and train teachers and staff on therapeutic procedures and adaptive equipment.
• Assist parents with home programming and guidance.
• Collect data and report child progress.
• Supervise paraprofessional staff, practicum students, and volunteers as needed.
• Assist in transition of children from program to public schools.
• Perform other duties as assigned for effective service delivery.

In person position is preferred but remote teletherapy is an option for the right candidate. Position is part time, with 15-20 hours per week required. INTRODUCTION:

1. 1. To provide a comprehensive occupational therapy program to children with disabilities and other education needs from birth to age 5.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. Conduct screenings of motor development as requested in order to identity the need for further evaluation.
2. 2. Conduct formal and informal evaluations including standardized tests and clinical observation and compile results into a multidisciplinary report.
3. 3. Participate in the development and review of the IEP/IFSP for identified children including writing annual goals and short-term objectives.
4. 4. Provide individual and small group therapy in accordance with the IEP/IFSP.
5. 5. Provide occupational therapy services in inclusive preschool classrooms and/or other settings.
6. 6. Provide consultation and training to teachers, other therapists and support staff regarding therapeutic procedures and techniques, positioning and feeding programs, adaptive equipment, and other activities needed to achieve IEP/IFSP goals and objectives.
7. 7. Assist parents and other caregivers through consultation or home programming in understanding the child’s needs, occupational therapy services, and how to assist the child in the home setting.
8. 8. Collect and report data and other information about the child’s progress.
9. 9. Supervise the delivery of services by paraprofessional staff members, practicum students and volunteers, as needed.
10. 10. Assist in the transition of children from the program into the public schools.
11. 11. Other duties as assigned relating to the effective delivery of services to children with disabilities and their families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 1. Master’s degree in occupational therapy with AOTA registration. Licensure by State of Wyoming is required. Pediatric interest required.

Must have spatial perceptions, auditory and tactile disaffirmation, speaking ability, judgment, aesthetic sense, olfactory discrimination, writing ability, reasoning, patience, visual discrimination, talking, hearing, grasping, grabbing, holding, feeling abilities, must be able to give instructions, must be able to work independently and must be in good health and physical condition. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to fifty pounds, and be agile in bending, walking, and other positions necessary for the care of children.
