Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) in Brenham, TX, is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide advanced therapeutic services for adults with complex conditions at the Brenham State Supported Living Center. The OT will assess needs, design equipment and seating solutions, and collaborate with the IDT to develop ISP-driven plans.

The role requires licensure, strong clinical skills, and experience with IDD and adaptive equipment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university program with major course work in occupational therapy is preferred.
• Experience in therapeutic rehabilitation work.
• Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year for year basis.
• Experience with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) or therapeutic equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
• May serve in an on‑call status on a rotating schedule as required to meet operational needs of the facility.
• Performs or oversees evaluation, treatment, clinical services and specialized modalities utilized in the treatment of individuals with multiple physical disabilities and serious medical conditions.
• Plans, develops and implements complex physical nutritional management programs and treatment protocols to treat, improve, or maintain consumer's level of health and function.
• Reviews and analyzes assessments, progress reports, incident reports, and medical consults and participates in quality assurance and quality enhancement activities related to provision of therapeutic services.
