Job summary

Carle Health is hiring an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients of all ages. The OT will serve as a clinical resource and mentor staff and students, while designing and adjusting care plans, and educating patients and families throughout rehabilitation.

The role requires an IL OT license, BLS certification within 30 days, and a comprehensive understanding of patient safety, documentation and outcomes measures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Active OT license in Illinois (IDFPR)
• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA)

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to perform patient transfers with assistance as needed from bed, chair and floor, if applicable.
• Uses body mechanics to reduce risk of injury to self, staff and patients.
• Designs an appropriate plan of care with goals, treatment, outcomes and discharge plan.
• Adjusts care based on patient response and evidence.
• Educates patients and families, students and staff using effective methods.
• Evaluates clinical findings to determine physical therapy diagnoses and outcomes of care.
• Performs examinations using reliable methods relevant to the chief complaint and history.
• Screens patients to determine need for further therapy services.
• Supervises COTA and rehabilitation technicians.
• Documents evaluations and plans of care per policy, including goals and status changes.
• Completes annual education for DNV Hip and Knee Replacement program (if applicable).
• Evaluates and implements intervention plans considering functional and emotional needs of patient/family.
• Modifies approach based on patient behavior and performance.
• Uses standardized outcome measures to reflect functional performance.
• Communicates progress and discharge needs with the medical team.
