Job summary

Health Advocates Network, Inc. is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for Fremont, CA, to deliver school-based OT services and support student participation.

The role requires an accredited OTA program graduate, active COTA licensure, and BLS certification with at least one year of hospital experience. This contract position includes shift hours and local pay. The team collaborates with teachers and families to enhance student success.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
• Current COTA licensure in the applicable state.
• American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers.
• 1+ years' experience as a COTA in a hospital setting.
• Copy of PSV from the licensing board or verification agency, if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., BLS, fit tests, immunization records).

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy services to support students' academic participation and daily functional skills.
• Assess students' abilities related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and classroom activities.
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on student needs and educational goals.
• Provide interventions to improve coordination, motor skills, independence, and participation in school activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support student development and learning outcomes.
• Recommend adaptive equipment, accommodations, and strategies to improve student success.
• Monitor and document student progress and maintain accurate therapy records.
• Participate in student support meetings, evaluations, and individualized education planning.
• Follow school policies, safety guidelines, and applicable professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) licensure in applicable state
• American Heart Association BLS, for Heath Care Providers
• 1+ years' experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a hospital setting.
• Additional certifications may be required.
• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements.
