Job summary

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide age-appropriate care to patients from newborn to 20 years. This role requires a degree in Occupational Therapy and a Georgia license. The incumbent will evaluate patients, develop care plans, and document treatment effectively within a collaborative team.

The position demands strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients and caregivers. The Therapist will also oversee assistants and contribute to maintaining a safe care environment while ensuring delivery of high-quality services.

Qualifications

  • Provides clinical oversight to Occupational Therapist Assistants and students.
  • Demonstrates competencies incorporating age-specific guidelines.
  • Participates in maintaining accreditation readiness.
  • Travels to clinical locations to provide patient care.

Job Description

Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 20 years of age within the scope of practice and established standards for occupational therapy. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. Supports the mission of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience
  • No minimum experience required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in pediatric or related occupational therapy
Education
  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school
Certification Summary
  • Georgia occupational therapy license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information
  • Positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment
Job Responsibilities
  • Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
  • Develops appropriate plan of care and implements effective treatment interventions founded in evidence-based practice so that functional outcomes are achieved.
  • Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Involves the patient's caregivers in their care, offering effective education and documentation tailored to the learning needs of both the patient and their caregivers.
  • Provides clinical oversight to certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides, and students as assigned.
  • Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N=Neonate (less than 30 days), I=Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-18 years), AD = Adult (greater than 18 years as applicable), and ALL = all ages.
  • Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of accreditation readiness.
  • Travels to clinical locations to provide patient care based on patient census, program development, and/or contract obligations with physician practices.
