Nexus Neurorecovery Center – Conroe is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) for PRN coverage at our Conroe, TX campus. The OT will help patients rebuild self-care, mobility, cognition, and independence after neurological injury within a structured rehab program, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care, with opportunities to work with neurologic and medically complex patients and to contribute to the Rise and Life Care programs.

Qualifications

  • Current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Texas
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • NBCOT certification
  • BLS/CPR Certification
  • De-escalation training within 30 days of hire
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Experience with neurologic rehabilitation or medically complex patients preferred
  • Hospital, inpatient, or rehabilitation experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care

Responsibilities

  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide therapy focused on activities of daily living, functional skills, and independence
  • Treat patients with neurologic, behavioral, or medically complex conditions
  • Use adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and environmental modifications as needed
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
  • Collaborate with speech therapy, physical therapy, psychology, nursing, and medical staff
  • Supervise COTAs and assist with coordination of therapy services when needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Follow Nexus policies, HIPAA standards, and safety procedures
  • Use de-escalation techniques when needed to maintain safety
  • Support a structured, therapeutic environment that promotes patient progress

Situated on a peaceful, wooded 26-acre campus, Nexus Neurorecovery Center – Conroe offers the Rise Program, a comprehensive neurological rehabilitation program for adults recovering from severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, spinal cord injury, and other neurological diagnoses.

This campus is also home to theLife Care Program, which provides long‑term residential care for individuals who have sustained serious, life‑altering injuries and require ongoing clinical and behavioral support. Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist (OT) plays a critical role in helping patients rebuild the skills needed for everyday life after neurological injury or complex medical illness. Through hands‑on, individualized therapy, the OT helps patients improve self‑care, mobility, cognition, and functional independence while working closely with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.

This role is ideal for clinicians who enjoy working with neurologic and medically complex patients in a structured rehabilitation environment and who value teamwork, consistency, and making meaningful progress with every patient.

The Occupational Therapist works with patients who may have cognitive, psychiatric, or physical challenges and helps them develop the skills needed for greater independence, safety, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
