• Ability to understand medical terminology and communicate effectively with clients, staff, and physicians.
• Dexterity to manipulate tools and materials while instructing clients.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of using equipment and materials while instructing clients.
• Ability to utilize computers and electronic devices for timekeeping, in‑servicing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate clients and provide Occupational Therapy upon the written order of the client’s attending physician.
• Manage and supervise Occupational Therapy assistants and/or rehabilitation aides in direct client care and related activities.
• Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the Occupational Therapy services offered by the department, including scheduling, transportation, filing, and mailing.
• Initiate and document ordered treatment(s); communicate progress reports to the attending physician.
• Consult with the physician regarding changes in client condition during treatment.
• Re‑evaluate clients in conjunction with the attending physician.
• Supervise the delivery of Occupational Therapy services to maintain an acceptable performance level from Occupational Assistants.
• Prepare and maintain treatment records with progress notes and observations, including physician’s orders, objectives, plan of care, procedures, data, progress evaluations.
• Participate in client care planning conferences as needed.
• Communicate with the Director of Clinical Services and other health team members regarding client progress, problems, and plans.
• Administer personnel functions of the OT Department, including staffing and in‑service training programs.
• Participate in continuing education programs for agency staff and attend required in‑services.
• Assist in ensuring uninterrupted OT services, including arranging replacement staff when needed.
• Participate in infection prevention, safety programs, and other duties as directed by the Director of Clinical Services.
• Comply with the Occupational Therapy Practice Act in the state.

Responsibilities

Occupational Therapists will provide ongoing therapy to clients in a timely manner per physicians’ orders, communicate progress within the agency, assess and treat clients, and maintain appropriate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations. Therapists participate in agency meetings, conduct in‑service training for staff, and collaborate with families, physicians, and other health team members.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association, or be eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association under its requirements.
• Must be licensed or registered in state as an Occupational Therapist.
• A minimum of one year experience as an Occupational Therapist.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and means of transportation.
• Ability to understand medical terminology and communicate effectively with clients, staff, and physicians.
• Coordination and dexterity necessary to manipulate tools and materials while instructing clients.
• Adequate strength and endurance to meet the physical demands involved in using equipment, tools, and materials while instructing clients.

Essential Functions

• Communicate with the Director of Clinical Services and other health team members regarding client progress, problems, and plans.
• Administer personnel functions of the Occupational Therapy Department, including developing, implementing, and maintaining work routines and staffing schedules, initiating and directing in‑service training programs, and participating in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Participate in continuing education programs for agency staff and attend required in‑services, completing assigned online modules.
• Assist in ensuring uninterrupted Occupational Therapy services, including arranging replacement staff when needed.
• Participate in department infection prevention and control and safety programs.
• Perform other duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Clinical Services.
• Comply with the Occupational Therapy Practice Act in the state.
