Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist to assess clients, design treatments, and implement therapy plans across post-acute, long-term care, and home health settings.

The role requires state licensure, NBCOT certification preferred, and BLS. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve functional and cognitive outcome goals.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Assess clients/patients/residents and design occupational therapy treatments


• Conduct evaluations and provide interventions for functional, cognitive, developmental, physical, psychosocial, or behavioral impairments


• Evaluate abilities and develop realistic therapy goals


• Administer appropriate occupational therapy programs and modify therapeutic plans as necessary


• Document client/patient/resident information and comply with departmental and regulatory requirements


• Educate clients/patients/residents to improve understanding and functional outcomes


• Apply age-related treatments, evaluations, current research, and professional clinical practice guidelines


• Treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders


• Demonstrate treatment appropriate to the therapist's specialty


• Accept variable work schedules and assignments


• Participate in activities promoting the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health


• Interact with providers, case managers, family members, third-party payers, and public organizations


• May supervise assistants, aides, and students providing care or services


• Provide ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise


• Perform other related duties requested by the manager


• Depending on facility and location, provide care in post-acute, long-term care, and home health environments

Requirements

• Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure


• Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Occupational Therapist


• When working at a Sanford Health Facility, certification through the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred; not required for GSS Facilities


• Valid driver's license may be required, when applicable


• Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications


• Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment


• In South Dakota and Iowa, new graduates testing with the board may be considered with a temporary license
