Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to assist patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises as outlined in a treatment plan, under the supervision of an OT. You will provide, monitor, and record therapy services for individuals with physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial impairments across post-acute, long-term care, and home health settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises scheduled in a treatment plan under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Provide, monitor, and record therapy services for patients/residents/clients with physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial impairments.
• Select, implement, and modify therapeutic activities and interventions consistent with competency levels, patient goals, and practice-setting or state-licensure requirements.
• Exchange information with and provide documentation to the occupational therapist about patient responses and communications during intervention.
• Provide information and documentation related to occupational therapy outcome achievement.
• Follow accepted clinical practice guidelines of the professional organization.
• Perform other related duties as requested.
• Depending on location and facility needs, work in post-acute, long-term care, and home health care environments.

Requirements

• Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure
• Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice
• When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred for GSS Facilities): Must also be certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
• Conforms to the supervision and licensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided
• When applicable, may require valid driver's license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment
