Adventist Rehabilitation - Rockville is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist for our Inpatient Rehabilitation department to extend God's care through physical, mental, and spiritual healing. The role spans acute, outpatient, and inpatient settings with flexible site coverage.

The position is per diem with a day schedule (Mon-Fri, minimum shifts). Compensation is $60/hour, and candidates must hold an MD OT license and AHA BLS certification, with 1 year of site-specific experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• 1 year of site-specific experience preferred.
• Active Maryland OT License.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform an initial examination and evaluation to establish an impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care for rehabilitation needs.
• Provide, or direct and supervise, therapy interventions and involve patient in planning and assessment.
• Plan for discharge in coordination with the team and ensure follow-up or referral as needed.
• Communicate, coordinate, and document all aspects of patient management with the care team and supervise rehab aides.
• Manage schedule to accommodate census and inform management of caseload issues.
• Attend team meetings and communicate patient status effectively.
• Be responsible for individual professional development activities.

Rockville Rehab seeks to hire an experienced Occupational Therapist for our Inpatient Rehabilitation department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

Responsibilities

• Perform an initial examination and evaluation to establish an impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with basic rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient, or inpatient rehabilitation settings (flex to any Rehab site as needed)
• Provide, or direct and supervise, the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care. The therapist involves the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the plan of care, and reexamines the patient/client as necessary during an episode of care to evaluate progress or change in patient/client status and modify the plan of care accordingly or discontinue occupational therapy services
• In consultation with appropriate disciplines, plan for discharge of the patient/client taking into consideration achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, and provide for appropriate follow-up or referral. The occupational therapist discontinues intervention when the patient/client is unable to continue to progress toward goals or when the occupational therapist determines that the patient/client will no longer benefit from therapy (in coordination with referring provider/team where indicated)
• Communicate, coordinate, and document all aspects of patient/client management including the results of the initial examination and evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, interventions, response to interventions, barriers to progress, changes in patient/client status relative to the interventions, reexamination, and discharge/discontinuation of intervention and other patient/client management activities with members of the care team as indicated. Supervise and direct the patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants, and volunteers
• Manage schedule to accommodate range in census and patient load and inform management of any issues with caseload management
• Attend team meetings and effectively communicate patient status, using, if needed, the medical record or other treating therapists to ensure sufficient knowledge of the case
• Be responsible for individual professional development activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
• 1 year of site-specific experience preferred
• Active Maryland OT License
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Work Schedule

• Employment Type: Per Diem
• Typical Daily Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5 weekdays per month (offering a minimum of 4 hours/shift)
• Shift Type: Day
• Shift Differential Eligible: No
• Compensation: This position is per diem at a rate of $60/hour
• Holidays: Two major holidays (at least one winter holiday) per year.
