Occupational Therapist – Per Diem

Job Location: Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center – Natick, MA 01760

Salary Range: $40.00 – $55.00 Hourly

Mary Ann Morse Healthcare Center, a 118‑bed skilled nursing facility located in Natick, MA, is looking for a per diem Occupational Therapist to join our team.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs for the agency to facilitate rehabilitation. In addition, he/she directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. The Occupational Therapist facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, in order to diminish or correct pathology.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)’ schedule, and timely documentation of services.
  • Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences and other related meetings.
  • Makes referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
  • Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.
  • Adapt program and/or plan of care according to the needs of individual patient.
  • Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
  • Order supplies and equipment as necessary.
  • Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment.
  • Screen, examine and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures, synthesize information and interpret examination findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, determine the predicted level of improvement and the time required to achieve it, identify precautions/contraindications and design a plan of care.
  • Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the patient and caregivers, implement the occupational therapy treatment plan, and complete all related documentation and record keeping.
  • Perform routine re‑examination as needed to modify/progress plan of treatment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Apply therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities.
  • Design, fabricate, fit and/or apply adaptive devices and train patients in the use of adaptive devices including orthotics and prosthetics.
