Job summary

Sterling Therapy Providers is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to organize and conduct rehabilitation programs within our facility. The OT will direct resident participation to restore and enhance performance and adapt activities for independence.

Responsibilities include evaluating residents, developing goals, designing adaptive devices, collaborating with the rehab team, and ensuring high quality care. This is a full-time position with per diem options and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an OT curriculum accredited by AOTA.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state.
• Registered and/or eligible for NBCOT certification.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates residents, develops treatment goals and implements OT plans with documentation.
• Designs and fits adaptive devices including splints and orthotics.
• Selects activities appropriate to each resident's capacity and interests.
• Collaborates with rehab team to tailor activity programs.
• Instructs residents in skills and monitors progress.
• Supervises supportive personnel and ensures quality care.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapist organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs for the facility to facilitate rehabilitation. In addition, he/she directs resident participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. The Occupational Therapist facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, in order to diminish or correct pathology.

RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. 1 Evaluates residents, develops appropriate treatment goals and methods, implements the occupational therapy treatment plan, and completes all related documentation and record keeping regarding these services; this includes application of therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and psychological functioning;
2. 2 Designs and fits adaptive devices and trains residents in the use of adaptive devices including splints and orthotics;
3. 3 Selects appropriate activities suited to the individual’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level and interest;
4. 4 Consults with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate activity program consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
5. 5 Instructs resident in the skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates resident progress, attitudes, and behavior as related to rehabilitative potential;
6. 6 Adapts program according to the needs of individual resident;
7. 7 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing conferences and other related meetings;
8. 8 Conducts training programs and participates in training medical, nursing and other personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives;
9. 9 Requisitions supplies and equipment as necessary;
10. 10 Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment as necessary;
11. 11 Supervises supportive personnel in accordance with state and professional standards;
12. 12 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. 1 Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the American Occupational Therapy Association and certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association under its requirements.
2. 2 Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required in the state.
3. 3 Registered and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
