Job summary

Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital in Marysville, WA, is seeking a Per Diem Occupational Therapist to plan and deliver activity therapy for patients on a weekend shift. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to support treatment goals and provide engaging psychosocial leisure activities.

The role requires a Bachelor's in OT, WA licensure, CPR, CPI familiarity, and 1 year of psychiatric patient care experience. Master’s degree preferred; on-site schedule with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• State licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Washington or national governing body.
• CPR Certification required; CPI training preferred before restraint procedures.

Responsibilities

• Observe and assess patients' physical and mental needs, applying sound judgment.
• Document changes in patients' appearance, behavior, and progress toward treatment goals.
• Provide psychosocial/leisure and recreation assessments and skills development.
• Assist patients in achieving independence and functional goals.
• Plan and implement activity therapy for assigned patient caseload within the facility.
• Model and teach coping, social, and stress management techniques.
• Contribute to treatment plans with goals and interventions in therapeutic activities.

Master’s degree preferred. Certification or licensure by the state of Washington and/or national governing body in the following areas: occupational therapy.Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness preferred.Additional Skill Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of CPI prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 30 days of employment.
