Job summary

St. Charles Health System in Bend, Oregon seeks an Occupational Therapist who evaluates, plans and provides treatment and rehabilitation as prescribed by a referring physician, working with families and the care team to align patient goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited college or university.
• Must have necessary requisites for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Oregon State Board and a valid Oregon driver’s license; ability to travel to SCHS sites and trainings. Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• One year of experience with therapy procedures and rehabilitation practices is required.

Job description

The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and provides treatment and rehabilitation as prescribed by a referring physician. Works with family and team members regarding patient’s abilities and goals.

This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

Essential Functions and Duties

• Adheres to Oregon State Occupational Therapy Licensing Board.
• Provides occupational therapy evaluation and treatment to achieve desired outcomes.
• Provides staff consultation and training.
• Provides community resource knowledge and referral services.
• Provides occupational therapy services to other hospital service areas.
• May be required to drive Rehabilitation van and meet all related SCHS vehicle policy requirements.
• Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team to assure patient care is accomplished effectively and efficiently in a cost effective manner.
• Participates in clinical care conferencing.
• Gathers data and accurately documents information in a timely manner demonstrating compliance with departmental and professional regulations.
• Participates with team members in facilitating patient’s and family’s learning throughout the continuum of care. Reinforces patient’s continued health care through teaching and/or referral to community agency follow-up.
• Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

• Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.

Education

Required: Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from a college or university accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Required: Must have necessary requisites for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Oregon State Board of Health. Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements. Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings and all St. Charles Health System worksites. Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

Required: Must have one year of experience with therapy procedures, current orthopedic and neurological follow-up procedures, and rehabilitation practices.

Preferred: Previous occupational therapy experience in a hospital based setting.
