Job summary

The Occupational Therapist (OT) at Bon Secours Mercy Health’s Richmond Health Source Shared Services location provides evaluation and treatment across outpatient, inpatient, pediatric, and off-site settings. You will assess, plan, and document progress, and collaborate with physicians to support daily living and work-related tasks.

This PRN, Days position requires licensing in the relevant state and a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of current practice or eligible for traineeship/temporary license
• 2 years of experience in equivalent setting (preferred)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, required at hire for RSFH)

Responsibilities

• Review physician referrals and patient history to determine therapy needs.
• Conduct and document patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatment plans.
• Administer prescribed occupational therapy treatments and create custom equipment.
• Develop programs focusing on functional skills, vocational training, daily activities, and motor skills.
• Monitor progress and adjust goals; participate in patient care conferences.
• Educate patients and families on at-home treatment procedures.

Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in enhancing patients' ability to perform daily tasks related to work and life. They conduct assessments, devise treatment plans based on physician referrals, and document patient progress. This encompasses outpatient, inpatient, pediatric, and off-site settings.

Essential Functions:

• Review physician referrals and patient medical history to determine therapy needs.

• Conduct and document patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatment plans according to department protocols.

• Administer prescribed occupational therapy treatments and create custom equipment for individual needs.

• Develop programs focusing on functional skills, vocational training, daily activities, and motor skills.

• Monitor progress and adjust treatment goals and plans as necessary, participating in patient care conferences.

• Educate patients and families on at-home treatment procedures.

Required Licensing & Certifications:

• Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families.

• Requires the ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals.

• Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
