Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital in Clyde, NC is seeking an experienced occupational therapist to deliver therapeutic interventions to adult and geriatric patients within a full‑service acute care setting. The OT will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize functional outcomes and ensure safe, evidence‑based care.

Responsibilities include supervising OT students and staff, assessing patient needs, initiating intervention plans, monitoring progress, and coordinating with physicians.

Qualifications

• Active NC Occupational Therapist license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Strong critical thinking and independent work in a high-stress environment.
• Ability to move and lift patients as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise OT Assistants, rehab techs, and students when applicable.
• Assess patient needs and initiate occupational therapy interventions.
• Observe treatment, track progress, and adjust plans with physician input.
• Perform initial and periodic assessments and document interventions.
• Assess pain impact and coordinate care with the physician.
• Deliver patient care in a safety-focused environment.

Overview

Occupational Therapists at Harris Regional Hospital provide therapeutic interventions for adult and geriatric patients within a full‑suite acute care environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal functional outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for patients supervised by OT Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and OT students, including staff orientation and supervisory duties in the absence of the qualified individual.
• Assess patient needs, identify and initiate appropriate occupational therapy interventions, and maintain standards for professional practice in collaboration with the care team.
• Observe and evaluate treatment effectiveness, goal attainment, and recommend physician adjustments when necessary.
• Perform initial assessments and periodic reassessments, complete QI scoring, and document interventions per policy.
• Assess pain impact on functional participation, intervene to reduce pain, and coordinate physician contact for medical considerations.
• Deliver all patient care within a safety‑focused environment to minimize medical errors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisory staff.

Qualifications

• Active NC Occupational Therapist License.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently in a stressful environment.
• Physical capability to assist in moving and lifting patients, push/pull heavy objects, remain on feet for extended periods, bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder height; patients range from approximately 80 to 400 pounds and may vary in functional independence.
