Job summary

Peak Rehabilitation Hospital, operated with Lifepoint Health and Duke Health, is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) for PRN coverage. You will assess patients, design and implement treatment plans, educate families, and assist in discharge planning while supervising support staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• State licensure for Occupational Therapy.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient ability to perform occupational skills; designs plan of care and treatment frequency.
• Documents subjective and objective patient progress.
• Monitors and modifies the plan of care; seeks consultation as needed.
• Educates patient and family about deficits and treatment.
• Plans or assists with discharge from therapy services and selects adaptive equipment.
• Supervises and delegates care to occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians.

How You'll Contribute

An Occupational Therapist who excels in this role:

• Assesses patient's ability to safely and effectively perform occupational skills. Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment. Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
• Documents subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
• Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed. Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervises and delegates the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations and practice standards.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy Required
• State Licensure for Occupational Therapy
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
