Job summary

Mercy Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Youngstown is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist (Inpatient Rehabilitation) to join our team. You will assess patients, design plans of care, and provide therapy to promote functional independence.

The role requires a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, OH licensure, and BLS certification within 30 days. You’ll supervise support staff and educate patients and families. We offer comprehensive benefits.

• Current OH licensure and ability to obtain BLS within 30 days of hire.
• Strong assessment, documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient’s ability to perform occupational skills and designs plan of care.
• Implements treatment using appropriate modalities.
• Documents subjective and objective progress findings.
• Monitors and modifies the plan of care; seeks consultation as needed.
• Educates patient and family/caregiver about deficits.
• Plans/discharges patients and advises on adaptive equipment.
• Supervises staff according to licensing laws and practice standards.

How you’ll contribute

• Assesses patient's ability to safely and effectively perform occupational skills. Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
• Documents subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
• Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed. Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Supervises and delegates the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations and practice standards.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and licensure in the state of OH. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
