Under general supervision, evaluate & treat patients using standard occupational therapy procedures. Evaluate patients’ motor and neurological capabilities and document findings. Direct, plan, organize, and execute occupational therapy programs for patients. Exercise professional judgment in selection of treatment media, consistent with attending physician’s prescriptions. Implement programs designed to enhance motor, sensory, cognitive, and interpersonal skills of the patient in order to promote patient independence and productivity. Work with attending physician to establish patient therapy goals that are consistent with the physician’s diagnosis. Prepare treatment plans consistent with therapy goals; provide group or individual therapy selecting from a variety of occupational therapy modalities. Document patient treatments, initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with established departmental and service line policies and protocols. Attend interdisciplinary team conferences and various meetings to consult with other team members regarding patient treatment and program development. Oversee, instruct, and evaluate occupational therapy assistants, aides, students, and/or volunteers as assigned. Co‑sign notes written by occupational therapy assistants, aides, or students. Maintain professional expertise through workshops, lectures, in‑services, conferences, etc. Assist in the implementation of programs and services to foster interdisciplinary approach and a service line system of care. Promote and adhere to the mission, vision, and values of the DMC and the customer service behavior standards.
