Job summary

Tenet Healthcare's DMC Receiving Hospital in Detroit seeks a Clinical OT Specialist to evaluate and treat patients using standard occupational therapy procedures. This full-time role focuses on complex cases at the site with days shifts.

You will plan individualized therapy, document progress, mentor staff, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to advance patient independence. Eligible candidates hold OT license in Michigan and NBCOT certification, with at least three years of clinical

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Three years of clinical experience to work independently.
  • Current Michigan license to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
  • NBCOT certification.
  • Minimum of 60 growth and development points.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate & treat patients using standard occupational therapy procedures.
  • Plan, organize and execute OT programs to improve motor, sensory, cognitive and interpersonal skills.
  • Prepare treatment plans and document evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Mentor staff and provide in-services for staff; participate in team conferences.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to align therapy goals with diagnoses.

Job Summary / Responsibilities: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, evaluates & treats patients using standard occupational therapy procedures. Responsible for treating the complex/specialty cases for assigned site(s). Evaluates patient's motor and neurological capabilities and documents findings. Directs, plans, organizes and executes occupational therapy programs for patients. Exercises professional judgment in selection of treatment media, consistent with attending physician's prescriptions. Implements programs designed to enhance motor, sensory, cognitive and interpersonal skills of the patient in order to promote patient independence and productivity. Works with attending physician in order to establish patient therapy goals that are consistent with physician's diagnosis. Prepares treatment plans consistent with therapy goals; provides group or individual therapy selecting from a variety of occupational therapy modalities. Documents patient treatments, initial evaluation, progress notes and discharge summaries in accordance with established departmental and service line policies and protocols. Provides staff mentoring and develops/implements educational in-services for staff. Attends interdisciplinary team conferences and various meetings to consult with other team members regarding patient treatment & program development. May oversee, instruct and evaluate occupational therapy assistants, aids, students and/or volunteers as assigned. Co-signs notes written by occupational therapy assistants, aids or students. Maintains professional expertise through workshops, lectures, in-services, conferences, etc. Assists in the implementation of programs & services to foster interdisciplinary approach and a service line system of care.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  2. Three years of clinical experience in order to acquire skills for independent patient treatment.
  3. Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Michigan.
  4. Initial certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  5. Minimum of 60 points on the professional growth and development criteria .
