Qualifications

• OT degree and TX license required for practice in the state.
• 3 years of children’s acute care experience OR 1 year NICU experience.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
• Experienced in evidence-based therapy and family education.

Responsibilities

• Provide neonatal-focused OT in NICU with occasional adult care as census requires.
• Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans and document progress.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions to restore movement and reduce pain.
• Educate families on exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety.
• Collaborate with physicians and care teams for patient-centered care.

Job Summary and Qualifications

This unique role allows you to specialize in neonatal care while maintaining diverse clinical skills, serving primarily in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with additional hours in adult acute care based on patient census. You will work within our dedicated women’s pavilion—the only freestanding facility in downtown San Antonio focused entirely on women and newborns—while contributing to a hospital recognized by Modern Healthcare as a Best Place to Work.

Your Role Will Include:

• Neonatal & Adult Care: Evaluate patient abilities and develop personalized treatment plans primarily for our NICU, adapting to adult acute care as census shifts.

• Evidence-Based Interventions: Deliver therapies that restore movement, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life across diverse age groups.

• Progress Tracking: Monitor outcomes, refine therapy plans, and ensure accurate, timely documentation.

• Family & Patient Education: Guide families on exercises, adaptive techniques, and safe practices to promote independence.

• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and care teams to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and smooth transitions.

• Clinical Leadership: Mentor therapy assistants or students while upholding HCA Healthcare’s values of excellence, compassion, and integrity.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy

• Occupational Therapy License issued by the Texas State Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners

• 3 years of children's acute care experience OR 1 year of NICU experience.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support
