Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced occupational therapy services to patients in accordance with standards, state practice, ethics, and procedures.
  • Performs patient assessments and develops individualized treatment plans to promote health and participation in daily activities.
  • Records evaluations and care in the medical record per documentation standards.
  • Informs patients and families of evaluation results and treatment plans; refers for further evaluation when needed.
  • Plans and provides therapy education and counseling to individuals.
  • Engages in professional development and mentorship of staff or students when needed.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and interdepartmental initiatives.
  • Escalates clinical and operational issues to department leadership to ensure quality care.
  • Assists in equipment selection, care, and maintenance; participates in purchasing decisions.
  • Delivers patient-centered care and excellent customer service.

$10,000 Sign on Bonus (new employees)

Full Time position M-F 7-3:30 , rotating Saturday and some holidays

Delivers advanced occupational therapy services through the evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy services. May lead or engage in professional development and performance improvement activities. Responsible for identifying, resolving, and/or escalating clinical and operational issues and assists in selection and maintenance of equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs advanced occupational therapy services to patients in accordance with generally accepted occupational therapy standards, Maryland State Board Practice, code of ethics, and departmental and/or organizational procedures.
  • Performs patient assessments and develops individualized treatment plan programs for clients/patients to promote health, well-being, and the patient’s ability to participate in the important activities in their life. Develops and maintains long- and short-term treatment objectives and re-evaluates and modifies treatment programs as necessary.
  • Records patient evaluations, re-evaluations and care provided in the medical record in accordance with departmental documentation standards.
  • Informs patients, families, medical and occupational therapy team members of evaluation results and plan for treatment and refers for further evaluation.
  • Plans and provides therapy education and counseling to individuals.
  • Engages in professional development and advancement activities such as learning opportunities or areas of improvement.
  • Provides mentorship and training to clinical team members and/or students based on departmental needs.
  • Participates, engages in, and/or may lead performance improvement activities, and other initiatives.
  • Identifies, resolves, and/or escalates clinical and operational issues to department leadership for resolution to assure high quality care and efficient departmental operations.
  • Assists in the selection, care, and maintenance of department diagnostic and treatment equipment, materials, and supplies and participates in decisions regarding the purchase of equipment.
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary, safe, patient-centered care and delivers excellent customer service.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
  • Education: Master's degree required. Bachelor's degree accepted if licensed prior to 2008 (per previous requirement).
  • Experience: 1 year licensed Occupational Therapist experience.
  • Licensure/Certifications:
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of Maryland.
  • Current BLS certification.

  • Strong verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills, including the ability to instruct others.
