Job summary

Danbury Hospital, part of Northwell Health, seeks a PRN Occupational Therapist for the I/P Physical Medicine department in Danbury. The position is as-needed, Monday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at $69/hour.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of OT experience; FIM and CPR certifications are desirable. The role involves evaluations, treatment planning, education, discharge planning, and participation in performance improvement activities.

PRN Occupational Therapist - Danbury Hospital - As needed Monday thru Sunday 8a-4:30p

PRN Rate $69/hour Qualified candidates will have Bachelors Degree and OT experience - 1 year. Must work 2 shifts per month to maintain PRN role at Northwell.

Summary:

Occupational Therapists provide services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain with emphasis on upper extremity function, maximal independence in activities of daily living, and cognitive perceptual motor function. Clinical responsibilities may include treatment of pediatrics and/or adults and mature adults. May treat in any of the following areas: in-patient, out-patient and pediatrics.

Responsibilities:

1. 1. Performs occupational therapy evaluations. Demonstrates technical skill and accuracy in performing evaluation procedures.
2. 2. Performs occupational therapy treatment planning and implementation. Utilizes appropriate interventions, procedures & equipment as defined by specialty area.
3. 3. Provides patient/family education and training.
4. 4. Provides peer review and participates in performance improvement activities.
5. 5. Documentation is completed based on department guidelines.
6. 6. Initiates discharge planning.
7. 7. Continuing education: attends 20 hours per year, provides two hours of inservice education to staff per year.
8. 8. Provides full time clinical experience to student.
9. 9. May provide guidance lower level staff.
10. 10. Participates in orienting, teaching, guiding and evaluating assistive personnel.
11. 11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
12. 12. Performs other duties as assigned.
