Role Description The Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapy role is a full-time, on-site position based in Montclair, NJ. The individual in this role will evaluate and treat patients with upper extremity conditions, including hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques and customized treatment plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing comprehensive assessments, designing and progressing individualized rehabilitation programs, fabricating and adjusting custom splints, and documenting all care in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. The therapist will collaborate with referring providers and other members of the rehab team to optimize patient outcomes and continuity of care. Additional responsibilities include educating patients and families on home exercise programs and injury prevention, participating in continuing education opportunities, and contributing to a positive, inclusive clinic environment.

Qualifications

• Licensure and education: Current Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility) in the state of New Jersey; graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Master's or Doctorate preferred).
• Hand therapy expertise: Experience or strong interest in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, including assessment, treatment planning, and splint fabrication.
• Clinical and documentation skills: Ability to perform thorough evaluations, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in an EMR system.
• Communication and collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to educate patients and families, communicate clearly with referring clinicians, and work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
• Professional development and ethics: Commitment to ongoing learning, participation in continuing education, adherence to professional, ethical, and regulatory standards, and consistent focus on patient-centered care.
• Additional preferred qualifications: Prior outpatient or orthopedic experience, hand therapy certification (CHT) or progress toward CHT, experience with athletic or sports-related injuries, and proficiency in bilingual communication is a plus.
