Job summary

Day Kimball Health in Danielson, CT is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our outpatient Physical Medicine Department. Under the general direction of the PM Director, the Occupational Therapist organizes and administers prescribed occupational therapy programs to help patients achieve their maximum functional potential.

The role involves evaluating and treating patients, documenting progress, educating patients and families, coordinating with physicians, and supporting program

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• Licensure by the state of Connecticut required.
• Current CPR certification (AHA Healthcare Provider) or equivalent within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats patients as prescribed by referring physician.
• Records treatment, response, progress and discharge information in patient charts.
• Educates patient, family and significant others regarding condition, treatment and home program.
• Routinely communicates with physician and other practitioners regarding progress or changes.
• Orients, instructs, and directs assistants, aides and students.
• Maintains professional growth through meetings, inservice and conferences.
• Assists with planning and implementing new programs.

Occupational TherapistJob Responsibilities:

• Evaluates and treats patients as prescribed by referring physician.
• Records treatment, response, progress and discharge information in patient's chart or enters information into computer.
• Educates patient, family and significant others regarding condition, treatment and home program.
• Routinely confers with physician and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing, regarding progress, regression or change of plan.
• Orients, instructs, and directs assistants, aides and students.
• Maintains professional growth by attendance of department meetings, inservice and educational conferences. Includes participation in hospital orientation and departmental and community education and programs as directed.
• Assists with the planning and implementation of new programs.

Occupational TherapistEducation and Experience Requirements:

• BS or MS degree from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy required.
• Licensure by the state of Connecticut required.
• Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
• Minimum of one year experience preferred.

Occupational TherapistKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Uses common sense and special medical skills to care for the sick or handicapped.
• Understands technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals, and labels.
• Uses eyes, hands, and fingers with skill.
• Works fast and accurately in emergency situations.
• Communicates well with people when they are sick, handicapped or nervous.
