Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat individuals with body disorders affecting daily activities. The role involves developing care plans and providing clinical oversight to assistants while maintaining professional relationships.

Qualifications

  • Current BLS/CPR card from an approved provider within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat human body disorders that restrict daily activity participation.
  • Maintain professional relationships with patients and team members.

Job description

The Registered Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats human body disorders that restrict a person from participating in daily activities.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Perform acts that are within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable licensing board.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurately evaluate patient needs and develop, implement, review, and maintain a comprehensive care plan.
  • Evaluate and provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients newborn through geriatric.
  • Educate the patient on aspects of care.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
  • Provide clinical oversight to the Occupational Therapy Assistants.
General Responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory / Management Responsibilities

This position does not involve supervising team members or making employment decisions.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • Education commensurate with license requirements at date of issue.
Required License / Certifications / Registrations:
  • Current licensure in Occupational Therapy through the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
  • Current BLS/CPR card from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.
  • Kansas Driver’s License (if position requires driving).
  • Auto Insurance equal to or greater than the Kansas Insurance requirements (if position requires driving).
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Previous experience in a similar environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally exert up to 50 pounds and constantly exert up to 10 pounds.
  • 26-50% of the day may involve standing or walking.
