Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital - Long Island in East Meadow, part of NYU Langone Health, invites an Occupational Therapist to join our team. You will provide therapy to help patients improve daily living activities and self-care, using clinical expertise to plan safe, age-appropriate care.

Responsibilities include documenting evaluations and plans, collaborating with the healthcare team, supervising OT assistants, tracking progress toward goals, and educating patients and families about the treatment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from ACOTE-accredited program.
• Current NYS Occupational Therapy license and registration.
• BLS or CPR certification required; strong communication skills; basic computer skills.

• Maintains accurate, complete and timely documentation reflecting examination, evaluation, prognosis, plan of care, education and interventions.
• Interacts and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes; supervises OT Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
• Evaluates patient progress toward functional goals and modifies the plan of care accordingly.
• Provides patient, family and clinician education regarding functional status and plan of care.
• Performs objective functional evaluation with tests and measures and establishes measurable goals.
• Implements appropriate interventions aligned with patient status, diagnosis and age in conjunction with the plan of care.

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Occupational Therapist - East Meadow.

In this role, the successful candidate Provides appropriate therapy toHelp patients improve their ability to perform activities of daily living and to achieve optimal level of self-care and productivity. Uses clinical expertise to plan the delivery of safe, therapeutic, and age appropriate care through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintains accurate, complete and timely documentation reflecting the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, education and interventions.
• Interacts and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and health care goals. Provides on-site clinical supervision to Occupational Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
• Evaluates patient progress toward functional goals, and will modify the the plan of care accordingly.
• Provides patient, family, and clinician education regarding the patient s functional status and plan of care.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Performs an objective functional evaluation including appropriate tests and measures and establishes a plan of care with measurable goals.
• Implements appropriate interventionstreatment as indicated by the patient s functional status, diagnosis, and age in conjunction with the plan of care.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy (Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) approved OT program). Current and valid NYS Occupational Therapy license and registration or limited permit. Current and valid BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association - Inpatient facility only. Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills. Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree. Current and valid BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association - Outpatient facility only. 1- 2 years Hospital (Inpatient) or Orthopedic (Outpatient) Rehabilitation setting. Experience in Neuro - Outpatient facility only.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
