Job summary

STRiVE is seeking an Occupational Therapist for the Early Intervention Program serving children aged 0–3. This part-time role involves assessments, therapy and family coaching in home and community settings, with a pathway to increased hours over time.

Responsibilities include data collection, reporting, IFSP participation and collaboration with families and professionals. A CO license, CPR for children, and driver’s license are required, along with background checks and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Active Colorado State License as an Occupational Therapist.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Early Intervention Program serves children 0-3 years old who are developmentally delayed or disabled and provides developmental programs and support services to children and their families. The Therapist provides assessments, evaluations and therapeutic intervention for children enrolled in the program in conjunction with parents/families, program teams, other staff, health professionals and outside agencies.

PROGRAM SERVICES.

Schedules and conducts therapeutic sessions and coaching to families and caregivers of eligible children according to the Individualized Service Plan (IFSP). Performs developmental assessments of assigned children, including data collection and report writing. Works cooperatively with family members and program team to establish outcomes with strategies to obtain them. Implements and models the strategies for caregivers in natural environments. Regularly provides data regarding client progress and service effectiveness to program team, health professionals and community team members. Attends and participates in all Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings.

PROGRAM SUPPORT.

Assists with supervising aides, students, paraprofessionals, and volunteers as requested. Assists with maintenance of program supplies and equipment and notifies supervisor of needed items. Notifies Service Coordinator of needs for referral to other programs. Serves on interagency committees as requested.

DOCUMENTATION and BILLING

Assures child’s information has been placed into the proper data systems to allow for timely and effective billing practices. Maintains progress notes and other required documentation.

RECORDS

Maintains progress notes and other required documentation. Provides information on client progress to families on a regular basis, at a minimum of the six-month review and annual assessment. Provides written reports to program team prior to IFSP meetings.

SAFETY.

Assures the safety of clients, families, and staff in work environments.

POLICIES/REGULATIONS.

Maintains knowledge of STRiVE policies, regulatory requirements and licensing standards and assists in assuring program compliance.

INSERVICE.

Participates in the development of in-service training modules and facilitates training as needed. Provides training for appropriate community organizations and professionals, as requested.

OTHER DUTIES.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge/Licenses:

• Current Colorado State License
• Regulatory Agency - Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA)
• Years of Certification - An occupational therapist must renew his or her license issued under this article according to a schedule of renewal dates established by the director.
• PD Requirements - 24 hours of Continuing Professional Development per renewal period
• Two years work experience with special needs children under the age of 3 preferred.
• Successful completion of State Provider Training
• Demonstrated competency in CPR for children
• Satisfactory results from CBI screening and reference checks per guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license, insurable and personal vehicle available for work-related travel.

Work Environment:

Job functions are performed in family homes, other routine based areas and/or virtual. Driving is required on a regular or frequent basis.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, transfer or carry 25 lbs. to 40 lbs. infrequently.
• Ability to stand/walk at least 20 minutes per hour.
• Ability to push/pull 40 lbs. frequently, up to l00 lbs. infrequently.
• Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, squat and crawl frequently.
• Ability to work with hands and manipulate fingers.
• Ability to respond to emergencies, as needed.
• Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to, telephone, computer, fax and copy machine.
• Ability to visit child’s residences and other community locations.
