Job summary

Upper Valley Medical Center is seeking a part-time Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join Rehabilitation Services. The role involves assisting the Occupational Therapist, administering treatments, and coordinating patient care with timely documentation.

Requirements include an accredited Associate degree for COTA, current Ohio COTA licensure, and BLS within 30 days. Strong communication and ethical practice per AOTA are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Report and discuss patient status during consultations with the Occupational Therapist.
• Administer patient treatment per established plans and reassess as needed.
• Maintain timely documentation and productivity per department standards.
• Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel and participate in case management of rehabilitation services.
• Support department operations and participate in 1–2 programs/meetings; mentor coworkers and students.

Upper Valley Medical CenterOccupational Therapist Assistant (Part-Time)Part-Time: 20 hours per weekUnder the general supervision of the department Supervisor in Rehabilitation Services and according to established policies and procedures, the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant will:Report/discuss patient’s status during consultation with Occupational Therapist; take initiative in communicating patient changes and scheduling consultations in a timely mannerConfer with Occupational Therapist prior to initiating change in an established treatment programAdminister patient treatment based upon established evaluation or reassessmentComplete required documentation in a timely fashion; maintain productivity at department standardDelegate appropriate tasks to unlicensed personnel; participate in case management of patient’s rehabilitation servicesPerform non-clinical tasks and demonstrate work habits to support effective daily operationParticipate in one to two departmental, hospital, or community programs/meetings; teach, orient, train, supervise, and mentor co-workers, new employees, volunteers, observers, and at least one student annually.Education: Associate degree from an accredited program for Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants required.Certifications:Currently licensed as a COTA in the state of Ohio required.BLS certification within 30 days of employment required.Requirements:Requires effective communication and the analytical skills necessary to implement planned treatment programs, identifying changes in patient’s condition, and adjusting activities accordingly.Demonstrates acceptable work performance by exhibiting a positive and constructive attitude, initiative, dependability, cooperation, and skill in verbal and written expression.Abides by the Code of Ethical Conduct as defined by the Code of Ethics by the AOTA.
